Detail from a recently finished drawing. A mix of pen and ink wash. Prints of this, as well as other drawings, should be ready by spring.
Decided to try hot pressed paper due to its smooth surface, which I thought would be good for a drawing/ink wash combo. Mistake. While it's great to draw on, it's close to impossible to build layers with ink or watercolor. You almost have to do the entire painting in one swipe. How do you guys do it?! A bit of a setback for these new prints but now I know that I'm a cold pressed guy.
Sorry to hear about the passing of Leonard Knight, the artist behind Salvation Mountain. I was lucky enough to find myself there a few years back and met the man who carved out his slice of paradise in the middle of the California desert. LA Times has a little article about him here. Pics of my visit can be seen on my flickr account here. R.I.P.
Was really excited to work with We Make Peace in redesigning their logo, website, and other visuals. In their words, "WE MAKE PEACE works to raise peace awareness and implement peace education in schools and after schools for the 8-12yr age group, through tried and tested learning programs, workshops and campaigns to build sustainable, non-violent cultures and communities."
The first part of the redesign is the logo above. We wanted to represent a sense of creativity in a stamp of approval. Next up is the website. The design is finished, now we are in the building stages. More to come.
A quick glimpse of a finished section for a new print. Blank areas are getting filled in next. Taking these drawings in a new direction with a mix of techniques.
Outside of Austin, Texas. Definitely worth the drive.
